{"id":441,"date":"2011-04-27T19:56:51","date_gmt":"2011-04-28T01:56:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ubune.com\/blog\/?p=441"},"modified":"2011-04-27T19:56:51","modified_gmt":"2011-04-28T01:56:51","slug":"japan-farmers-rally-against-tepco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ubune.com\/blog\/2011\/04\/27\/japan-farmers-rally-against-tepco\/","title":{"rendered":"Japan farmers rally against Tepco"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/STI\/STIMEDIA\/image\/20110426\/ST_19902203.jpg\" alt=\"Farmers\" \/><\/p>\n<p>HUNDREDS of angry Japanese farmers protested on Tuesday outside the Tokyo head office of nuclear plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co, taking with them vegetables, milk and and even two cows affected by the atomic crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Some 350 people, mainly farmers from the region around the radiation-leaking Fukushima Daiichi power plant, flocked to the heavily-guarded headquarters of embattled utility Tepco in the capital.<\/p>\n<p>Chanting anti-nuclear slogans, they waved in the air cabbages and spinach that had not been sold due to fears of radioactive contamination from the plant, which was hit by a powerful earthquake and tsunami on March 11.<\/p>\n<p>They also brought two live milk cows on pick-up trucks, as well as milk in aluminum containers, from their dairy farms near the plant, which is some 250km north of Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Tepco must stop the radiation leak! Tepco must pay compensation!
