NORTH KOREA’s leader has a new hobby and no, it doesn’t involve destroying the US in a ball of nuclear flames or photoshopping up a naval fleet. Kim Jong-un’s new hobby is … mushrooms.
North Korea’s Supreme Commander visited a mushroom farm this week as part of a grand plan to turn the country into a global mushroom powerhouse, the Atlantic Wire reports. And didn’t he look happy about it.
Surrounded by some fine looking fungi Kim beamed for the country’s state media.
The young leader also looked happy with the attention he received from the mushroom farm’s all-female crew.
Becoming a mushroom powerhouse was reportedly the wish of Kim’s grandfather, Kim II-Sung.
“He [Kim] said that it is necessary to thoroughly implement the behest of President Kim Il-Sung, who called for turning the country into a world famous mushroom producer by building such mushroom farms in different parts of the country,” KCNA reported.
It remains to be seen whether the mushrooms will be used to feed the country’s hungry masses.
